After digging around the yard all day yesterday, I somehow still had energy to go to the rock climbing gym this morning. I met up with Mondo in OB and we headed on over to Solid Rock. There were no crowds so we had a lot of space to move around in. We both hit major milestones today. Mondo made it to to the top and I actually was able to let go and dangle in the air. After practicing on 3 different walls we went over to the bouldering area to work on upper body strength. Eventually we were able to hang on to the cave area ceiling for a few seconds before we fell to the mat. It doesn't seem like much but it was a lot of work. The goal for next time is to increase the length of time we can stay on the wall. The best part about this type of workout is you get to enjoy a guilt free lunch so we rounded up Ms. Kitty and went to Hodads for lunch and a beer. All in all, a good day. Happy Halloween to all the Trick-O-Treaters!

The final shot of the day - the view from my front window. My time as neighbor of the moment is coming to a close. From the collasped fence, to the new garage door, and today's new fence, it seems like everyone has stopped by for a look!

The front yard now with a side fence and no more ugly tree!

The fence is complete!

Stage One: The planks are set into the cement and we wait for everything to settle in place.

Brad came over and brought his portable workstation. Then we made the Home Depot run for planks and cement.

Today was the day to build the new fence. Here's the before picture. I started to take down the old tree to make room for the new fence.
This has been one non-stop week! Between the World Series, work, and normal life stuff I'm not sure I'm ready for November. It's time to recap the last week so I can think straight. First, what's been up at the box office? We've had a two week drought of good movies and I don't have any must sees until next week. (Alfie & The Incredibles) Van Helsing came out on DVD so I've watched the Director's Commentary and I'll probably watch it again tonight just as the movie version. We're still 6.5 weeks away from ROTK EE DVD. The garage door was replaced and Brad is coming over tomorrow to start the fence project. He thinks it can get done in a day, so stay tuned. On Sunday Mondo and I are going to the rock climbing gym and hammering out the details of our TAR video. I've had the strangest travel planning week. The cruise documents arrived and I'm in Cabin 123. That's easy enough. My friend Terri and I have finalized pla

After the storm ended it cleared up quickly as if nothing had ever happened. I was too lazy to make the 5 minute trip to the beach so here's the ocean view from the corner.

And the Red Sox win the World Series in 4!

Not exactly blog excitement but here is the new garage door. I think the big news of the day is that we saw water fall from the sky.
All is quiet in Bloggerdom today. I had a new garage door and remote installed today. Once the fence goes up it will look like a decent place again. We're at the bottom of the 3rd, 1-0, Red Sox. It's still anyone's game. The St. Louis fans are a loud bunch. You'd have thought they just won the World Series the way they were all carrying on during that last rally! 7th Inning stretch and it's 4-0 Red Sox. I actually hope the Cardinals manage to pull out a win for two reasons. 1, to keep it a competitive series, and 2, just to give the St. Louis fans some joy. They just have the sadest looks on their faces right now. We'll find out soon. Final score: Red Sox 4, Cardinals 1. At least St. Louis managed to get on the scoreboard in the 9th inning.

Sara and Teddy. The cats are most annoyed that they're trapped in the carryalls.

Sherry and her Mom - ready for Halloween!
My friend Sherry is famous for being a cat person. She only has two cats but the entire house is decorated in cat theme. After a year of living in her new home, she finally had a house warming party. I thought I'd take pictures of the cats stuff but it turned out to Halloween themed for the event.

I have pumpkin stickers that will match this photo when it goes in an album!

Everyone once in a while I get the opportunity to go to Knott's. Yesterday was a perfect sunny day with hardly and crowds and the park was more fun than normal since they were getting ready for Knott's Scary Farm.
Blogging, Beer, and Baseball - it just doesn't get better than this. So there's this whole side story about beer from Ruth Chris' bar that I haven't mentioned yet. I said that 3 Doors Down was in the bar but I didn't go into details. I would have never known who these guys were but the bartender told us so that was that. When we arrived I sat down next to one of the bandmembers, who seemed kind of freaked about me actually wanting a seat at the bar. He put down his beer and asked one of his friends to watch the beer. His friend promptly made fun of him like "what, is it going to do tricks?" (Dirty look followed) I told the friend that I had sat down next to the beer and threatened it. Well the guy came back to an unharmed beer but next thing you know, cops were moving into the stands at Yankees's Stadium. I made a joke that someone in the stands had lost their beer. Everyone appreciated the joke except for paranoid beer guy. Then one of m

Now I'm hanging out with Nashvilles' newest star! Behind us is the Wall of Fame of the pioneers of Country Music who played at Tootsies.

Carolyne singing with Jimmy Snyder.
On the last day in Nashville we had some free time so a group of us went downtown to check it out. We managed lunch and some shopping and then ended up spending the rest of the time at Tootsies Orchid Lounge. Tootsies is a small music venue that has been the starting place of many country singers. Tootsies focus today is to keep country music alive for both new and established musicians. For me, it was a few beers and a fun afternoon. On stage that day was Jimmy Snyder who could play just about any request we tossed out. He also encouraged audience participation so my friend Carolyne ended up on stage for a couple of songs. After her set, she got to take the big bucket and pass it around the bar for band tips. The rest of us just sat back and laughed! If you're in Nashville and want to go to Tootsies, check it out at www.tootsies.net
One of the on-going events in Nashville was baseball fever. We were all trying to sneak off and watch the games whenever possible. Most of us were cheering for the Red Sox so that made for team unity. More about baseball later. Tuesday night's event was dinner at the Country Music Hall of Fame. It was set up so we could tour the exhibits and then have dinner. It started out well enough, glass of wine, look at the carss with rifles on them, listen to some music and then go back downstairs for more wine. I thought that was it for the evening but there was a surprise. Our group was getting a private concert that night with Kim Carnes and her fellow musicians. (Bette Davis Eyes in case you don't remember) It was fantastic! There were different performers throughout the evening and we were in a small venue so it was close-up and really fun! The band played over the time limit and then we all received a CD to remember the evening. I went in a skeptic and came out am

Every day the hotel dressed up the lions. This was the rainiest day of the week.

Part of the tour was to go to The Hermitage, home of Andrew Jackson. We weren't allowed to take pictures inside and it was raining so hard I didn't even see the grounds. This was my view at The Hermitage.

As part of the behind the scenes tour, you get to check out all the dressing rooms at the Grand Ole Opry. If we could sing, Darcy and I would be Stars!

Shopping at the Grand Ole Opry. Every stop on this trip had a "Gift Shop Opportunity" as the tour guides constantly reminded us. I'm not much for country wear so here's a look at what the shop had to offer. I should have taken a picture of the chocolate covered marshmallows that we ate there. Those were good!
