Great Smoky Mountains - Sugarlands

Adjacent to the Sugarlands Visitor Center is a moderate trail that does a 1.5 mile loop. The trail meanders around streams and you do have to cross some bridges of various size so it is not a city hike but easy enough.

The trail takes you to John Ownby Cabin which was built in 1860 and restored in 1964.  This is one of the last surviving cabins that were build before the area became a National Park.
L.J. is getting ready to go under the bridge along the stream path. Our next stop is the waterfall.
Cataract Falls. This short hike is almost all flat and can be done from the park headquarters instead of the visitor center.

  1. And the air was so clean and fresh. I wish we had a little drier weather that day so we could have done more hiking instead of this nice little walk!
