The Office

Image
Is this how everyone really works? I'm training someone this week and going to the office each day. I really don't remember the last time I worked a week at the same office in a set pattern. I'm hoteling it to avoid 4 car hours. Miss the beach where even the seagulls were chill.

Balboa Park

Image
Balboa Park - Last night was a fundraiser at the zoo for endangered animals. After not being in that area for a few years it was fun to revisit the area. Now that this tower is open for the first time in forever, my goal is to go up to the top once the weather is cold. Elephants- because they're fun! Below Joan Embry talking pythons. And my close encounter with a sloth!

Weekend!

Image
It's a nearly perfect Saturday. Crowds are sort of gone and parking is easy. If you want to have a lazy afternoon this is the place!

Doctor Who!

Image
Post repeat Doctor Who viewing and its time to deal with the heat and get some exercise in. I have mixed feelings on the season opener. The premise with the Daleks is a good one, Missy is fun and the writers are really creative with her. UNIT seemed hapless though and some of the other elements felt like filler. Overall I'm excited for the return and the season looks promising!

Pre Weekend Happiness

Image
Another great day! The truck passed smog with flying colors and I'm finally putting in nice window blinds at the house. I need one more evening post sunset to clean up the rest of the old lavender patch and the September round of projects will be complete!

Thursday Beach

Image
It's as if the rain never happened. Even the seagulls are out enjoying the evening.

End of Summer Season

Image
The tourists are not quite gone. The hear still lingers. School is back and roads traffic is bad. Sunsets go on and this is a great way to end this day.

Truck Time

Image
It's that time of year where the DMV registration shows up and snag check is due. In preparation for that I took the truck out for its annual oil change. 375 miles driven since last year. I think the guys recognized the trick as soon as I pulled in. Easiest oil change ever! No extra sales pressure and in a week or so I'll deal with the smog check.

Dragon Con: Doubleclicks

Image
Even at Dragon Con there are lines. This is the one for The Doubleclicks and the Filk room attendants said they'd never had a line or full room overflow before. Don't think they realized how good their guests were. In the SciFi world though, where else can you hear such gems as "Cats and Netflix" or the Doctor Who them on a harp with  meow keyboard as vocals? Or sing-a-long to "The Worst Superpower Ever". And have a band who's willing to go the extra mile for your entertainment? This was an event that was worth the line. Like SciFi and parody music? Check them out at: http://www.thedoubleclicks.com  and Doctor Who theme with cat keyboard  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cbgl945KZjg&list=UU7mTbuoB_deYgbQtzZAdRPw&index=2

Dragon Con Parade

Image
Crowds + waiting + hot sun = not my thing.  Unless the reward is getting to see Nichelle Nichols in the Dragon Con parade! 45 minutes of waiting and there she is! Live Long and Proper! What was it like to get to this point? Crowds of people lined the streets! What happened after? Pink Vader happened.  And then these people went by.  Followed by the fighting men.  Even the Xena contingent was represented but somehow, I missed Xena. After 45 minutes of waiting and 45 minutes of parade with no end in sight I decided to pass on waiting for the end. It was time to get my badge and see if I could get into any panels.
