ABA beer review that I posted on beeradvocate.com As few months ago I would have rated this beer a 3.0 based on the amount of alcohol. What I've found over the summer is that this beer is extremely cravable. It does look great in the glass. You can always spot your Arrogant Bastard (ABA) in a crowd of beers. The smell is distinctive and strong but not overwhelming. So far, just by sight and smell, you know it's going to be good. Taste, well on a hot day when you want to cool off, the taste is perfect. A strong thirst quenching ale. On a cold day, the first sip comes off as strong and it takes a couple to get re-introduced to the beer. In fact, you almost need someone to introduce you to your first ABA in order to fully appreciate the beer. I have found that ABA goes better with friends. Mouthfeel - ABA hits the mouth hard at first. You know it's there and it sends the beer senses tingling. After the first sip, it just feels right. Drinkability - wel
Trekkies 2 had a screening at the NBFF and I was there! It was more of the same but with International Trekkies. It's amazing the extremes people go to. One guy turned his entire flat into the command console and it's for sale on e-Bay! It would be kind of cool as a travel hotel but I wouldn't want to live there. Who knew the Trekkies of Germany were so isolated? The movie also revisited people from the first movie. The jury duty lady is still wearing her uniform and stirring up things in Little Rock. Oh and in Sacramento there's a whole world of Star Trek themed bands. Like they said, what else is there to do in Sacramento? It was a fun movie, slightly long, but a very enjoyable Aussie group who worship Conner Trinner of Enterprise. Go see it just for that! Check their web site for scrennings at: http://www.trekkies2.com/
Evening beer for the day - Kona Brewing Company's Fire Rock Pale Ale. Just popped it open to relax while I blog. I've been looking for a way to post travel logs and the old web site just didn't fit the bill anymore. The next upcoming trip is still a month off - NYC for Memorial Day Weekend. Benderbrau and I were at McCabe's back in January listening to Al Stewart when we decided to go off to London and see Al live in concert there. Well that was damn expensive so we ditched that plan and decided on NY. That was better bacause at Al's concert in Feb. he spoke to us. Not literally of course, but the opening number was "In Brooklyn" so we knew it was a sign from Al. Good thing too since the plane tickets had been purchased.
Welcome to my blog! I was inspired after the TMBG concert at House of Blues in Anaheim. It had nothing to do with the TMBG, just pre-show conversation. It had more to do with "The Five Stages of Beer" and the Newport Beach Film Fest. After those two events, I just knew that I needed a blog to discuss movies, bands, beer, and travel!
