Street Art - Singapore

Image
Haji Lane in Singapore is a mix of shops, restaurants, and street art that is fun to walk around. As a bonus it's near other areas of interests to tourists and takes your mind off the heat for a short time. I wish there were artist explanations. The golden C3PO early bird gets the worm? Look up at the tops of the buildings in this area. Art is not confined to walls. Cafes and shops all have their own unique art

Fun Art - Kearny Mesa, side of electrical box

Image
Random images on an electrical box. No more than a few inches and barely noticiable.

Street Art Aarhus

Image
Walking out the back of the hotel by the old train tracks led me to a small park, artist colony, bars and experimental living center. It was a nice surprise in the urban setting and plenty of art for the eyes. Walking along all the walls are covered. Who doesn't love a giant robot with it's own sound system? This is the one that caught my eye as I was heading back to the hotel and indicated that I needed to do a course correction and explore.

POW! WOW! HAWAII - Street Art

Image
Honolulu is giving street artists an annual venue in the warehouse district. Every February a new set of artists are selected and given walls to paint to showcase their work. Workshops are held on technique and how to promote your art and it keeps unauthorized work showing up in other places. Since the walls are painted over each year, what you see here might not exist in March 2016. This keeps it fresh although some of these are incredibly detailed. It's a truly temporary exhibit. I know there's political messages in some of the art. Some I can figure out, some not so much so without knowing who the portraits represent.  This was part of a lager wall, full of people. Walking the streets of the warehouse district is full of surprises if you look. I wish there was a description from each artist about their mural. More Street Art - Sao Paulo

Image
This was along and under a street overpass/bridge area. Various artists and styles. The elephant is what caught my eye.  And I liked the iguana.  This one with the dragon was my favorite.  And this one is not my style but the big butt could not be resisted! I liked the colors in this one. Walk a few minutes off any side street or under a road and you'll find all types of people making their mark on the concrete canvas.

Street Art - Sao Paulo, Brazil

Image
Everything that I've read indicates Sao Paulo is a great city for street art. Most of those places have to be hunted out and probably not the best place for a casual camera toting tourist to go to. These are from a wall behind the Hyatt in the business district. Simply crossing the street, I was targeted by a car for harassment. I saw it coming and stayed out of reach, walking on down the road until the car left a few seconds later. Then I was free to photograph the wall.

Street Art - Copenhagen

Image
An oops wrong turn! Turned into an unexpected photo op near the Copenhagen Central Train Station. So much construction is going on and the walls around the work were creatively covered. These are dated from last year so that is one long project! Below is a sampling of the various artists.       This one was a series of comic book style stories. The girl is getting the guy drunk so he can spill the beans about a girl and a relationship.

Street Art - Penticton, BC

Image
Unlike Aucklands "Paint it Gray" campaign, the small town of Penticton had a sponsored event a few years ago to showcase local artists. Hidden in alleys and side streets, this art is not your average paint can scribble. This one below is what caught my eye, and one wall led to another.  Different styles, unique paintings.
