Backtrack Post - Flying into Salt Lake City August 12

Image
Last weekend the flight into Salt Lake City was almost picture perfect. While not crystal clear, the view was good and my window seat photos weren't blocked by the airplane wing.  The lake can almost be seen and the copper mine is coming up. I went to this mine once and watched the trucks all driving around, moving the earth, hauling out the rocks. It was far more fascinating than I though possible to see all the work that revolves around mining. There's a viewing area and information center should you ever be there and decide to check it out. The great Salt Lake comes up next. Blue with white salt. This must be the most un-touristy destination in all of Utah. I went floating in the water once, long before it became too something - dirty, mucky, smelly. I don't know but I'm glad I swam there once and that was enough.

Museum of Ancient Life

A hands-on, user friendly dinosaur exhibit awaits you at Thanksgiving Point, Utah. Located in Lehi it's only a 15/20 minute drive south of Salt Lake City. As you walk through the museum, a range of dinosaurs are there from the common ones we've all heard of to ones that haven't made their way into movies or our imagination.  This guy we all know. But no danger here!  A giant ground dwelling sloth!  That's Mr. Eremotherium to you and me.  Going to Utah and like dinosaurs? http://www.thanksgivingpoint.org/learn/museum_of_ancient_life/exhibits.html

Friends & Family - Utah

Leaving beer behind, we took the tram to the Snowbird Peak. Above Karen & Robert and below Karen & Stacy. This was the kind of day where every photo was made perfect by the backdrop! Stacy at the tram area. Karen and Stacy. It didn't seem that windy but we have the windblown hair! Kicking back, waiting for the tram ride down. Karen, Mary, Stacy.

Arrival at Oktoberfest - Robert, Karen, Stacy. We all have different Utah craft beer. Robert was brave and got the Pumpkin Ale. Very mild. Mine was Black Bier and Stacy stuck with an ale. All good! Below, Mary joins in, minus a beer. In the tent. Ein Prosit! Stacy and Karen raise the toast!

Snowbird, Utah - September 18, around 2:00 pm. Splashes of color are about the mountain and yellow and red are having their day. At the top of the peak we were treated to clear horizons that showcased the valley. Hey! My beer is almost empty! How'd that happen? Below - Emigration Canyon as the sun was finally cresting over the mountain around 8:30 am on September 19.
