On my first night of freedom, I didn't have a beer. I did walk by Pizza Port but that was on my way to the beach to regain all my fitness from slouching off all month. Then I was too sandy and wind blown to even consider going inside anywhere. So that was it - exercise at sunset. Tonight - I think I'll goof off. Do useless stuff. Like dishes. Water plants. Stuff that requires no mental energy.
DONE!!!! :)

Most of you know that Mondo and I wanted to go on TAR as the Sci-Fi geeks. Well we never did it but Bill and Mark made it in our place and are representing San Diego geeks all over the world. I just got back from the season opener viewing party and I'm glad to know that they had fun doing the show. No spoilers from these two, they're keeping it all a big secret!
After reading and rereading every single detail of the assignment and the grading rubric , I finally decided to let the papers go and be done with them. I was at the point where any revision was probably going to make the writing chopped and uneven and was the stress really worth a .32 more in the grade? So now I sit and wait (as usual) for the learning team to catch up and do their part of the team paper so I can edit and submit the sucker. I know that will be tomorrow so it's time to relax. Adding to my own stress was the fact that the school server went down. Since I couldn't check in and had nervous energy to funnel, my house is unbelievably clean right now! Soon I will be free!
Joy. Another bank of mine has failed. I started banking with Home Federal which collapsed and became Great American which also collapsed and became WaMu . Now WaMu is toast and JP Morgan seems to be my new bank. Well I needed to order new checks anyway.
I'll give the Chinese astronauts a shout-out today. This is China's first ever spacewalk and I hope it goes well and the team is safe.

Mondo and I went to the Mandell Weiss Forum Studio Theatre to see Night Sky. It's a play about an astronomer who is hit by a car and suffers brain trauma, leading to aphasia, the inability to put words into speech. I liked the insights about aphasia but can't really say that the play itself was good. I think interesting is more the word. I couldn't connect emotionally with the characters but I liked the concept and I liked the theater.
A first - I actually forgot to check email until 4:30 pm today! I was so wrapped up in making sure I hit the stairs at the beach for a workout, going to Henry's for water, and then working on the paper that nothing else went through my mind. The final countdown begins! On the Marriott Islamabad, all I can say is that when a terrorist wants to destroy something, it will happen. Yes, that would have been my hotel of choice had for some bizarre reason I would have wanted to go there but all the people in LA on the Metrolink thought they were in for a boring train ride that day. What will happen, happens.
No wonder United is failing...This is the schedule change I woke up to as Carlsbad had 4 of the 7 existing flights cut out today. The original route was a 6:00 am Carlsbad to LAX to IAD, no worries, no conflict. What did the UA geniuses do to me? 10 days and 3 papers left. I'm 98% done with one of them, 80% done with the "biggie" and the team paper won't be started until Tuesday. I have posted my last dreaded Discussion Question and now it's a matter of just doing it and not losing focus. I really can't type or spell anymore. I see the evidence in Twitter and on anything without a spell check.
Still exist. Probably blogging is going to take a slow down over these last 13 days, 6 hours left of school. I'd count the minutes but higher education is robbing me of the ability to do so.
15 days left of school. The work is intense but that's probably more because I'm so mentally wiped out from it all.
A couple weeks ago I started a 5 week plan to get my world in order before the next major travel period starts. Measurement of progress to date: Jump start the truck – check! Homer did that. De-spider the house/exterior – check! Bug spray in full force. De-week the flower garden – check! Round-up + me. Water said garden and palms to revive – check! I’ve been good. Buy an external hard drive for backing up files since I lose flash drives – check! Thank-you Staples sales. Take the Subaru in for service since the brakes were going – check! Done today. Rear brakes replaced. Replace burnt out lights in garage – fail! My ladder’s not tall enough. Add buy a ladder to the list. Fix the sprinkler system to prevent future dead plants – fail! I’m lazy there. Replace smoke detector batteries before they start to beep at me – no but the next replacement is still 8 weeks away. Buy a personal laptop – fail! I want a Sony Vaio but not ready to spend the money. Okay so more or less, I’m on target. But
9/11 - seven years later and the media has at last found a way to remember the people and not exploit the events. I hope that all the families and friends who lost loved ones are remembering the good times and not having to relive this day too much.
A boring work day - sometimes those are the best kind. Nothing crazy happens and work flows along. On the flip side, nothing to blog about.

My house was built in 2000 and it's falling apart in 2008. Yesterday, I randomly looked out the bathroom window and noticed a few roof tiles had slipped. The glue is coming off and the seams are crumbling. I also saw grass and straw which I can only hope is from the bird's nest and not from a rat or mouse nest. All night I thought about rodents in the roof. This morning I grabbed the only tool I had that would work in my attempt to fix tiles without falling off the roof. Now I know what that bathtub is for! And I leaned out the window (after learning how to pop out the snap screen) and started moving tile around. This sucks. I think I'm going to have to call a roofer in the next year for repairs. If it's like this on a decorate eave then I'm sure it's worse where I can't see it.
First paper done. Starting on second now. I didn't get the second one done but I'm set up for next week at least.
620 words down, 2400 to go. Ugh. And this is only the first of two papers this weekend.
My life is homework this weekend, maybe the beach, and maybe some food. This weekend, my thoughts are with Sandi, Sheri, and Donna.
Today wasn't boring and had the exact right amount of interesting stuff going on to make the day go by fast. But, nothing to blog about. New 90210 - okay. It can go either way for me. Seemed kinda Gossip Girl-ish. At least the reality TV season is coming back so my mindless tv can keep me sidetracked inbetween papers.
My Yahoo career horoscope for today: "Things have gotten as dull as they can be. Even being alone at your desk would be more exciting than your usual routine. That means things can only get more exciting from here, so hold onto your hat. " I am alone at my desk and today is totally dull! I'm typing and printing routine certificates and letters and ready to fall out of my chair from boredom. Good to know the celestial alignment won't stay like this for long.
I should be watching Fred Thompson give his speech right now, and at least pretend to pay attention to the Republican convention but no. I am too excited about new 90210 tonight! I'm sure the new series will never match the first but it was my guilty pleasure and I could use some new TV. Gossip Girl doesn't do it for me and New York goes to Hollywood has lost the allure. One day down in this short week and 3 to go! 4 weeks left of school.

For Mondo. This is a sweet dessert champagne stye wine that tasted like sparkling sweet grape. I was neutral but Mondo has found a grape based beverage to enjoy.
