Just one more day of work before a whole week off! Bring on Friday afternoon! Let's see....Friday night - Irish Pub! Saturday - get keys to new home! Saturday afternoon - spend the rest of my money on stuff for the new home! Sunday - Move in part of the way! Monday - move in the rest of the way! Tuesday - July 4th. I'll be in my new home but with no food and no TV, I guess the party is at Karl Strauss! The rest of the week - Dublin! July is looking to be a good month.
It's official. I am a homeowner once again. Escrow closed this morning and now I get to spend even more money in the next few days. Between the washer/dryer/fridge/beds and all things that are needed to stock the shelves, I'm about to do my part for the economy!

On Sunday we went to the Utah Arts Festival. The day was ultra hot and sunny which meant that only the artists with shade had customers. There wasn't much shade so business must have been slow. At any rate, we did our part and wandered the festival and tried to ignore the heat. As we ended our art tour, we finally found art that we could all relate to - the Gear Sphere. Not one single exhibit commanded our attention the way this did. After all, we had two engineers with us. I'm surprised we even left the festvial. Now this is true art - A pint of Oatmeal Stout!
It's a B! Just barely, by 3 points but an official B has posted for the last math class! Thank-you Brad and Keith!

The family reunion was an all day event. To prepare for the day ahead we stopped at a diner in the canyon for a big breakfast. This is Ruth's Diner which has been in operation since the 30's and has big country breakfasts. Brad and Lorie pose pre-meal. No after shots were taken of the food destruction that we created a short time later. The highlight activity of the picnic was the pinata break and these kids lined up to bat down the pinatas (3 in all) to get the candy and toys inside. We lucked out and had a perfect day outside, with the canyon still covered in green and some snow on the mountains.
This morning I find myself waking up in Salt Lake City. It's the weekend of a big family reunion and the main activity of the day will be eating! There's still snow on the mountains but it's supposed to be hot in the vallley. The nicest part of the weekend is of course - no more math! I've moved onto Finance which doesn't require the same level of time investment. Everything with the house is proceeding along quickly. I sign the paperwork on Monday and say bye to all of my money on Tuesday. Then when I have the official close of escrow, I can say bye to more money when I purchase appliances!
Based on the assumption that I will continue to do the occasional geocache, I have officially signed up on geocashing.com. That was the extent of my exploration though as work took over the day. On a far more positive note, it is such a relief to be back in a no-brainer class where I am on solid ground with the material. Ethics and accounting is a frequently discussed concept at my work.

Some desserts just speak for themselves!
I think it's over. Barring any grade less than a C-, I won't have to repeat the class. It's still entirely possible that I won't pass. I'll know in a week.
Friday flight delays due to weather are all over the place. As a result, here I am at the Denver airport, once again doing math. 3.5 days and counting.
Math. It is just really dragging on. I get home from St. Louis late Friday night and the final will post sometime while I'm on the plane. This means that the weekend is now crammed full of house inspection and paperwork, math, unpacking and repacking, and fitting in a social schedule. I am so looking forward to a normal class starting Tuesday! St. Louis is as boring as usual. Work, hotel, work.
6 more days of math and then it's over!
Sunday already! In the last few days I have put an offer on a house, had it accepted, and have gone to being semi-poor again now that I have payments. Math just continues to be an unpleasant struggle but the end is near. There are only 9 days left before I leave algebra behind. I'm back in St. Louis but this week will be all work and no sightseeing which is good because there is a final this week and that will take all of my focus. Maybe I'll even be able to go to the movies again!
I am officially in escrow. We're going for a quick close and I should be able to move into the new house on July 2nd. I'll only be able to enjoy it for 2 days becasue then I'm off traveling again, but at least the process will be over and done with! Now I have to start saving money again to make those house payments!
I put an offer on a house today. I fully expect the seller to counter-offer and we'll see what happens. It's a 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath in Carlsbad with minimal yardwork. If the counter offer isn't too much money, I'll probably accept it and go into escrow. Assuming that this works out, the next movie party is in August!
The weekend was Saturday math and Sunday math. Two more weeks of math and then I'm done with it! What a waste of my time and money and peace of mind just to satisfy an academic requirement. I can see where the concepts apply to many jobs but they sure don't apply to mine or to any job that I plan to have in the future. I will so celebrate the day that I can close the book on polynomials, quadratic formulas, and square roots forever!
I've been doing too much math! I can't even believe it. The syllabus shows 30 algebra equations to do each week. So, I've done about 22 of the 30 each week. I never looked at the grades because they are usually poor and this time has been harder than any of the previous classes, so I just didn't want to know. Then tonight, I was looking at the assignment and something just didn't seem right. I went in and checked the weekly folder and realized that only 6 equations are due each week! I went and checked my paper and sure enough, there was a big electronic note on the paper to only do the assigned work. Now I'm sure the teacher is wondering what I am even doing in school! 2.5 more weeks to go and math will be over!
