Knox Mountain, Kelowna

Image
The viewing area at Knox Mountain are only a 15 minute drive from downtown Kelowna. The area is perfect for walking, biking, and even dogs.  Looking north at the Okanagan Valley    For peak boating season the lake area is almost empty. Everyone seems to be staying near the docks.

Mission Creek - Kelowna

Sunday morning, a few hours off, a sunny day, a peaceful hike. This is what life should be every day!

Kelowna - View from the Room (other side of hotel)

10 days later I'm back at my hotel home and as a reward - I get the other side of the hotel facing west where the sun doesn't rise. What a relief at 4:00 am!  It's 9:00 pm, daylight is still out, crazy winds are blowing and howling and the thunderclouds are building up. I hope to get out at least for a few hours this trip.

A 50th!

My best friend Jean and I have known each other since Jean was born. A mere 2 months separates us in age but being tossed in a playpen together early on led to a friendship that even Oprah can't beat!  So in celebration of friendship, being cancer-free, and Kenny's competition at the National Beta Science Exam, we joined up in Nashville!  Dinner last night was at the Hard Rock Cafe, the perfect place for pin collectors like us. Left to right around the table:  Kenny, Ann, Maggie, Karen, Jean, Russ.  Cheers!

Tin Cup Beer

Went for a fried food fest at Cock of the Walk in Nashville. Any place that provides huge helpings of fried catfish, fried pickles, fried chicken, and fried anything is a place that gets a basic beer.  I just didn't know it would be in a cute little tin cup!

Opryland Hotel

I'm in Nashville for Jean's 50th birthday and Kenny's competition for the National Beta Club. Today we stuck to the hotel grounds since Kenny had to register and as I write this, is taking a science test. A test of any sort isn't my idea of fun but the hotel is full of the best and brightest so I hope our future is secure. Kenny and Maggie. This is what you do while trying not to think about a National test. It's the top kid from each state. Kenny won the Georgia state science test competition. The hotel gardens feel like you're outside and make a nice photo but somewhat boring. We needed these horses to liven it up!

Home, really?

I'm visiting my house for a day, then off to Nashville for fun! Blog should be back in action with fun photos on Saturday.

Lakes of the Okanagan

Every drive is a scenic one in the Okanagan Valley. Even a short drive will keep you occupied with lakes and hills. This is on the drive from Kelowna to Vernon.
