Here's the recap since the last post:

Monday - Rain Forest hike and saw lots of wild birds but no koalas. Travel to Albert River Winery and check out the wines. Then off to Queen Mary's Falls for a quick look. Well, the day went smoothly up till then because the easy road on the map turned into a 90 minute drive thru winding mountain roads. When we finally arrived we were still in time to do another rain forest hike and see the very spectacular falls! Off once again we headed to Boonah (I said I was going to the boonies!) where we found a decent place to stay and okay place to eat. The small towns aren't big on tourists so you really just take what you can get. Luckily, we found a small 2 bedroom cottage, with kitchen, sitting room, cable tv, etc. for only $110 per night, a real bargain!

Tuesday: Went to the lavender farm and there was no lavender left. So we checked out the winery and it was okay, so onward ho to the rose farm. That turned out to be another let down because the roses were 5 weeks away from bloom. We headed north to Harrisville and found the treasure of the day - Mick and his small winery! We went in for tasting and ended up staying for two hours while we learned all about Harrisville and the restoration process for the town. The local newspaper came in to interview Mick about the restoration and his winery. It was fascinating and all because a tv show "Fat Cow" had been filmed there and gave inspiration to the town. After leaving Mick's we went to another winery but it just didn't measure up so being that it was later afternoon, we returned to Brisbane.

Today - I went to Australia Zoo, home of the Croc Hunter. I have to say it is one of the finest zoos that I have ever seen. The focus is on conservation of local Australia animals, especially the crocs. The animal shows were informative and fun and it really was impressive! Tonight we're off to see "We Will Rock You" a play set to Queen music, ala Mama Mia. Tomorrow is the Koala Sanctuary and I'm not sure about the weekend. My next post will probably be either at the airport or when I get home.
