Here I am at Harp. I'm so pale and washed out that I am going to have to get a little sun (with sunscreen of course) soon or I'll look like a total goth. I have now entered United flight miles back to 2005 on flight memory and have to start looking at scrapbooks to get older flight info loaded. I also found an old stack of random airline mile updates and can add those. My goal is to add what I have, go back and look up all the vacation boarding passes for the last 7 years and then give up on the past and keep all records updated going forward. I may have to add in a few trips minus the actual dates just to make the map look right. After all, I'd hate to leave Rhode Island without a flight after all the trouble it took me to finally get there!

Innsbruck - here despite it never being on my to-see list
First the backstory. In about a week I'll be boarding a cruise ship (this year's Cruise Trek) in Romania. When I booked the flight many months ago, I had a brilliant idea to go in a week early to Vienna and use it as a base to spend a few nights each in Albania and Bosnia. Fast forward to 6 weeks ago and the Covid restrictions, flight schedules, and hotel prices made me give up. Changing the flight to Vienna would result in penalties and possibly fare increases so I made the best of it and thought, where can I go in Austria where I've never been? Innsbruck, hmm. Can I get a free flight from Vienna? Yes! Can I get a free hotel room? Yes. Check! The city is picture perfect though. Nestled in a valley between two mountain ranges, it's green, colorful, and everything you could want a place to be when the purpose is total work decompression. No major sightseeing, no expectations. You, a city and a view. It's walkable and small. You've got to look up, left and right,
Stained Glass - Metropolitan Cathedral of Rio de Janeiro
Yesterday's tour included a quick stop to run inside the Metropolitan Cathedral of Rio de Janeiro and take photos of the stained glass. Glass looks best when it is sunny outside and we had sun in abundance! I need to find a camera setting that works with cathedrals. Stained glass is one of the more difficult things to photograph well.
I think you look just fine!
ReplyDeleteI love your map of flights - you need to get all the states in since you worked so hard to get all 50!

Most of those states were earned by driving though. I think I've flown to 18 states total.
