As if jet lag wasn't enough to deal with I went to the Black Eyed Peas/Gwen Stefani concert last night. The concert was okay but somewhat low energy. BEP's just kept shouting out San Diego! as a way to get the crowd motivated. Gwen Stefani had so many costume changes that a good portion of her show was watching videos and break dancers. The true entertainment was the crowd around us. It was a constant fashion parade plus a mix of the drunkest people that I've seen at a concert in a long time. Homer said it was because I wasn't drinking myself that I was so tuned into drunk people but it was a staggering night for many.

Innsbruck - here despite it never being on my to-see list
First the backstory. In about a week I'll be boarding a cruise ship (this year's Cruise Trek) in Romania. When I booked the flight many months ago, I had a brilliant idea to go in a week early to Vienna and use it as a base to spend a few nights each in Albania and Bosnia. Fast forward to 6 weeks ago and the Covid restrictions, flight schedules, and hotel prices made me give up. Changing the flight to Vienna would result in penalties and possibly fare increases so I made the best of it and thought, where can I go in Austria where I've never been? Innsbruck, hmm. Can I get a free flight from Vienna? Yes! Can I get a free hotel room? Yes. Check! The city is picture perfect though. Nestled in a valley between two mountain ranges, it's green, colorful, and everything you could want a place to be when the purpose is total work decompression. No major sightseeing, no expectations. You, a city and a view. It's walkable and small. You've got to look up, left and right,
Stained Glass - Metropolitan Cathedral of Rio de Janeiro
Yesterday's tour included a quick stop to run inside the Metropolitan Cathedral of Rio de Janeiro and take photos of the stained glass. Glass looks best when it is sunny outside and we had sun in abundance! I need to find a camera setting that works with cathedrals. Stained glass is one of the more difficult things to photograph well.
I found this review of her previous show, which sums it up.
