Last night was a surprise b-day party for blogger Sandi's 40th! Somehow with dozens of evites circulating about, it was a complete shock for her to come home to a group of people waiting outside for her decked up arrival. An odd blogger/facebook/work community was assembled and somehow we all managed to mesh together. Blogger Sheri - it was great to talk with you, and meet Pam and Taylor (pictured above and waiting for his Aunt to get to the cake). Also met the fellow PackRatters/Parking War gamers and talked strategy! Now if Troyce is getting caught up, he'll understand why I was asking so many questions about the audit job. It was a great party and I was glad for the opportunity to do something besides be on the computer!

Innsbruck - here despite it never being on my to-see list
First the backstory. In about a week I'll be boarding a cruise ship (this year's Cruise Trek) in Romania. When I booked the flight many months ago, I had a brilliant idea to go in a week early to Vienna and use it as a base to spend a few nights each in Albania and Bosnia. Fast forward to 6 weeks ago and the Covid restrictions, flight schedules, and hotel prices made me give up. Changing the flight to Vienna would result in penalties and possibly fare increases so I made the best of it and thought, where can I go in Austria where I've never been? Innsbruck, hmm. Can I get a free flight from Vienna? Yes! Can I get a free hotel room? Yes. Check! The city is picture perfect though. Nestled in a valley between two mountain ranges, it's green, colorful, and everything you could want a place to be when the purpose is total work decompression. No major sightseeing, no expectations. You, a city and a view. It's walkable and small. You've got to look up, left and right,
Stained Glass - Metropolitan Cathedral of Rio de Janeiro
Yesterday's tour included a quick stop to run inside the Metropolitan Cathedral of Rio de Janeiro and take photos of the stained glass. Glass looks best when it is sunny outside and we had sun in abundance! I need to find a camera setting that works with cathedrals. Stained glass is one of the more difficult things to photograph well.
