What's a Trekkie to do? You're in Vegas, you have a free night, hmmmm...Dinner at Quarks and go through the Star Trek experience of course! The Star Trek show is up to $40 now so find a coupon booklet and get $10 off. This year we had a group of 11 to enjoy the ride. Nothing has really changed but the price and for some reason you have to do the Borg Encounter and the Klingon Invasion as two separate events. That's a hassle to have to go back through the line and start over again but luckily we didn't have to wait too long. The experiences were running on every other half hour track so you had to go in order. Oh well. It was fun and gave us something to do. Afterwards we once again feasted on the Holy Rings of Betazed and Hamborgers. Of course I'll go back again.

Innsbruck - here despite it never being on my to-see list
First the backstory. In about a week I'll be boarding a cruise ship (this year's Cruise Trek) in Romania. When I booked the flight many months ago, I had a brilliant idea to go in a week early to Vienna and use it as a base to spend a few nights each in Albania and Bosnia. Fast forward to 6 weeks ago and the Covid restrictions, flight schedules, and hotel prices made me give up. Changing the flight to Vienna would result in penalties and possibly fare increases so I made the best of it and thought, where can I go in Austria where I've never been? Innsbruck, hmm. Can I get a free flight from Vienna? Yes! Can I get a free hotel room? Yes. Check! The city is picture perfect though. Nestled in a valley between two mountain ranges, it's green, colorful, and everything you could want a place to be when the purpose is total work decompression. No major sightseeing, no expectations. You, a city and a view. It's walkable and small. You've got to look up, left and right,
Stained Glass - Metropolitan Cathedral of Rio de Janeiro
Yesterday's tour included a quick stop to run inside the Metropolitan Cathedral of Rio de Janeiro and take photos of the stained glass. Glass looks best when it is sunny outside and we had sun in abundance! I need to find a camera setting that works with cathedrals. Stained glass is one of the more difficult things to photograph well.
