The story behind this bottle of wine is that on Friday night, a group of us went to an Italian restaurant in St. Louis. There were several bottles that we tasted. One was a light Pinot Grigio from Venice (Santa Margarita) and then a full bodied red that I can't remember the name of but I didn't like at all. One of the people in the group wanted Pinot Noir and there were no offerings except for this one from Newberg, Oregon in Yamhill County. I had to laugh because we'd been sampling wines from Italy, in St. Louis, trying to find a California Pinot on the menu and the best wine of the night came from Mrs. H's neighborhood. I had to take a picture of the label so I would remember what it was that I liked. Pinot Fans, I'd suggest giving this one a try.

Innsbruck - here despite it never being on my to-see list
First the backstory. In about a week I'll be boarding a cruise ship (this year's Cruise Trek) in Romania. When I booked the flight many months ago, I had a brilliant idea to go in a week early to Vienna and use it as a base to spend a few nights each in Albania and Bosnia. Fast forward to 6 weeks ago and the Covid restrictions, flight schedules, and hotel prices made me give up. Changing the flight to Vienna would result in penalties and possibly fare increases so I made the best of it and thought, where can I go in Austria where I've never been? Innsbruck, hmm. Can I get a free flight from Vienna? Yes! Can I get a free hotel room? Yes. Check! The city is picture perfect though. Nestled in a valley between two mountain ranges, it's green, colorful, and everything you could want a place to be when the purpose is total work decompression. No major sightseeing, no expectations. You, a city and a view. It's walkable and small. You've got to look up, left and right,
Stained Glass - Metropolitan Cathedral of Rio de Janeiro
Yesterday's tour included a quick stop to run inside the Metropolitan Cathedral of Rio de Janeiro and take photos of the stained glass. Glass looks best when it is sunny outside and we had sun in abundance! I need to find a camera setting that works with cathedrals. Stained glass is one of the more difficult things to photograph well.
Just got off the phone with Karen and she's headed home in the morning but no internet until then. She did have time to post the picture of the killer wine she just had with dinner.
