Arizona Weekend

I'm off to Cornville today. Audrey's b-day is tomorrow so we're going to celebrate the August birthdays of past and present!

Shots are Done!

Typhoid and Meningitis shots were on today's list. The doctor told me I could have Hep B but I passed since I'm going out of town tomorrow and didn't want to risk it. The nurse was nervous about giving me the shots since she didn't want me passing out. Really shots are not the problem and never have been. It's what happens afterwards that isn't fun. The CDC list states that very few side effects happen with the Meningitis vaccine except for sore arm. Check. I have a sore arm. Best part about this is I'm covered with this vaccine for life. The CDC list also states that less than 7% of the population has a reaction to the Typhoid vaccine but that reaction includes erythmia. - Rapid heart beat, lightheadedness. Bing! Now this is the second time that a doctor has asked if I have panic attacks about shots or new situations. Nope. I panic on rollar coasters but that's solved by not going on rollar coasters. What a relief the blood pressure/heart rate mach...

(500) Days of Summer

(500) Days of Summer was the weekend movie because I thought it was about 500 days of summer vacation. Not! My bad. Instead of a happy daydream movie, I was in a quirky quasi romance movie of boy meets and loses girl; girl's said name Summer. 500 days with her. I was good for about 250 of them and then it was time to end the relationship. Not that the movie was horrible, in fact it was original, tried something new, and even had moments where I enjoyed what was going on. But no vacation. The audience was mixed in age from 18 to about 80 so I'm not sure if any target audience was reached. You're either going to go see it because you've heard the buzz from Sundance or you're not going to see it. I liked the use of back and forth time in the relationship. We start in the middle and jump to Day 1, then forward, then back and so on. I liked the characters but will soon forget them. I liked that the different viewpoints were used and no one size fits all for relationsh...

August 1

So much to do, going on but I seem to be in a slow moving protected bubble and can only watch. I think that might be called exhaustion. Whatever, I don't have time for it. So today would have been my Dad's 78 th birthday. I can't even imagine what it would have been like to have parents in their 80's but most of my friends do and their parents seem to be getting around more or less okay. At least pretty darn good for being 80+. On the flip side, I've had plenty of relatives hit that near 100 mark so you never know. We're celebrating OB's b-day early with pool and food, the usual. I need to get off my butt and see (500) Days of Summer. It's also time to turn in my $3500 hospital bill to the insurance and get my money back. Scripps Mercy sure cashed that check fast! Speaking of hospital, I moved the cactus around today and it managed to rip right thru my wrist creating a small surface cut that I didn't even notice was bleeding until I was on my...
