At the end of each cruise you get a recap of the ship's log for the week. Here's the short version of my cruise:

Nov. 6th - 4:45 pm cast off mooring lines & depart for Key West. 8:36 pm Vessel passing Tampa fairway buoy, setting southerly courses through the Gulf of Mexico.

Nov. 7th - 5:30 am Veendam passes the most western tip of the Florida Keys (Dry Tortugas) & turns to an easterly course into the Straits of Florida to Key West. 11:20 am Veendam safely docked at Mallory Pier, Key West. Weather: Clear skies, & fresh north easterly breeze 74 F. 5:57 pm Veendam sets southwesterly course for Belize City, Belize.

Nov. 8th - At Sea. During the night the Veendam sails on a southwesterly course passing north of Cuba. Mid morning, new southerly courses are set through the Yucatan channed, Cuba east, Mexico to the west. Weather: Partly cloudy skies, fresh northerly breezes & slight seas. 77 F.

Nov. 9th - 6:54 am. Veendam safely anchored. Shore side tendering commence with fast tenders. Weather: Clear skies & moderate northerly breeze. 81F. 6:20 pm Veendam sets southerly courses toward Santo Tomas de Castilla, Guatemala.

Nov. 10th - 5:53 am. Ship safely docked portside at Santo Tomas de Castilla. Weather: Overcast skies & light airs 79 F. 5:39 pm Veendam heads northwards towards Cozumel, Mexico. Into the evening the Veendam passes to the east of Glover reef & Lighthouse reef where numerous shipwrecks can be found.

Nov. 11th - Continuing on a northerly course during the night the Veendam crosses into Mexican waters leaving Banco Chinchorro to the west. 11:48 am Tender operations commence. Weather: Clear skies, northerly breeze & moderate seas 81 F.

Nov. 12th - At Sea. Vessel sails along the Mexican coast through the Yucatan Channel until setting a northerly course throught the Gulf of Mexico. Weather: Partly cloudy skies, northerly breeze & moderate seas 81F.

Nov. 13th - Tampa. 5:00 am Vessel all fast at the cruise ship terminal.

Total Mileage This Voyage: 1,789 Nautical Miles.

Okay, so a couple of things. First to me, light seas was bad and moderate seas was worse. I just wanted the ocean to stop moving. I'm glad we never saw rough seas. Next, why did they even put in about the shipwreck area? The first I heard of it was when I read my log. If I can't see it, I'd rather not know about it's existence. The weather was taken at 12:00 noon each day. I'm still in vacation mode and ready for the next trip!
